HISTORY OF BARANGAY DUMANHOG

Barangay Dumanhog is located in the municipality of Siquijor, within the province of Siquijor, Philippines. As of the 2020 Census, it has a population of 668 residents, accounting for approximately 2.31% of the municipality’s total population. Geographically, Dumanhog is situated at approximately 9.2112° North latitude and 123.4936° East longitude, with an elevation of about 12.6 meters (41.3 feet) above sea level.

The name “Dumanhog” is derived from the Cebuano word “dumanhog,” which means “to flock” or “to gather in large numbers.” This suggests that the area may have been a traditional gathering place for locals, possibly for communal activities or events.

In recent years, Barangay Dumanhog has been active in environmental conservation efforts. For instance, on June 4, 2022, the Siquijor Police Provincial Office, in collaboration with the Barangay Dumanhog Council, local residents, and the Philippine Coast Guard, conducted a coastal clean-up activity. This initiative aimed to promote a cleaner and safer environment and foster strong community relations.
